Classroom Pivotal Response Teaching (CPRT)

Image of CPRT Individualization Tool beginning screen

I led the design and development of all CPRT professional learning materials, including a blended learning process that helps CPRT coaches provide individualized support for each of their teachers.

The CPRT Learning Module contains two parts: a comprehensive reference with detailed information about what CPRT is and how to use it, and an interactive lesson allowing virtual, firsthand practice with planning a CPRT lesson as well as teaching it. The interactive lesson collects learner activity data that populates a custom coach report; this report provides CPRT coaches with insights about the unique needs of each teacher they are supporting, allowing a tailored approach.

The CPRT Individualization Tool provides custom recommendations about the best way to use CPRT to meet the personalized needs of each student. Teachers answer a few questions about learning goals and the characteristics of their student; in turn, they receive advice about which CPRT components they could emphasize to maximize the effectiveness of their lessons.

State Implementation and Scaling-up of Evidence-based Practices (SISEP)

To facilitate the development of competencies and skills within an implementation workforce, I co-led the strategy for SISEP Center’s new micro-credentialing program and contributed to the successful grant proposal.

The program includes:

  • asynchronous components which include interactive, hands-on opportunities to apply skills and receive feedback,
  • structured social learning opportunities,
  • reflection and evaluation, and
  • coaching support. I lead the design and development of all asynchronous components.

I continue to co-lead the overall strategy of the program while I lead the design and development of all asynchronous components. I also contribute to the design of the social learning component.

A stand-out skill of mine is the translation of important concepts into hands-on learning experiences that result in useful data. Two impactful, award-winning projects that I led are highlighted here: the AFIRM for Paraprofessionals learning modules, and a Choose-your-own-adventure eLearning experience designed to teach Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports to K-12 school staff.
